NEW YORK METS Catcher Belts Out 'Heavy Metal' Tunes At New York Party
December 26, 2002The following article appeared in today's edition of the New York Post:
New York Met catcher Mike Piazza shared a little Christmas cheer — and some heavy-metal tunes — with a go-go dancer at a holiday party he hosted in SoHo.
The star slugger traded his bat for a microphone and jumped onstage at Don Hill's with the hard-core band NUCLEAR ASSAULT [actually said to be THE EDGAR CAYCE BAND, which played classic hard rock covers while accompanied by a host of guests, including ANTHRAX's Frank Bello, TRIXTER's PJ Farley and Steve Brown, T.T. QUICK's Mark Tornillo and Dave DiPietro, MONSTER MAGNET's Ed Mundell, OVERKILL's Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth, and HALFORD's Metal Mike Chlasciak—ed.], as a scantily clad woman got up to dance along to the music.
A Post spy said Piazza was shy when he first hit the stage but loosened up as the night went on.
Piazza sang backup on a few numbers and told his guests to pace themselves — good advice, since the party lasted until 3 a.m.
The Met's most recent flame is model/actress Alicia Rictor — the two were spotted canoodling in Miami earlier this month — but his first love has always been hard rock.
